Key Metrics That Define Your Insomnia

Sleep Onset Latency

Measures how long it takes you to fall asleep after getting into bed. A consistently high latency (over 30 minutes) is a hallmark of onset insomnia.

Total Sleep Time

Tracks the actual number of hours you sleep each night versus the time you spend in bed, revealing the true extent of sleep loss.

Sleep Efficiency

Calculated as the ratio of time asleep to time in bed. Healthy sleepers typically have efficiency above 85%. Insomnia patients often fall well below this threshold.

Wake After Sleep Onset (WASO)
